PDF On Tour

On Tuesday, September 13 (the day before SGIA) Four Pees and Tucanna will help you reach new hemispheres at their PDF On Tour event in the Stratosphere hotel in Las Vegas.

PDF On Tour is a technical event around PDF, tFLOW from Tucanna and the pdfToolbox technology from callas software (which is the PDF engine integrated in tFLOW). Expect no sales pitches here, rather technical background on the PDF file format, preflight and preflight standards and how to accomplish very practical tasks in your workflow. Bringing your own laptop is advisable, as it will allow following along with presentations and getting the most out of each topic.

PDF preflight: history and current state of affairs

This session gives an overview of how preflight has been handled traditionally, what are the best practices and standards in use today, and what is coming. Topics covered include: preflighting versus fixing, which standards you should use or build on, and more.

PDF preflight in practice

How do you create your own preflight profiles in pdfToolbox and use them in tFLOW. What is in a profile? How can you efficiently modify profiles, create your own checks and fixes and how do you manage the growing library of profiles you are working with?

Creating a “good for print” sheet for production jobs

Often you don’t want to send a production job to your client, but you want to create an approval version. What are the capabilities in pdfToolbox to prepare PDFs for this purpose and how can those be used in tFLOW?

Preparing a PDF for production – finishing tools for your profiles

pdfToolbox can do much more than preflight, and tFLOW can take full advantage of those capabilities. Functionalities such as adding white borders, creating bleed, adding grommets, tiling and creating additional ink layers will be discussed in this session.
