Accessing Higher Ground focuses on the implementation and benefits of Accessible Media, Universal Design and Assistive Technology in the university, business and public setting. Other topic areas cover legal and policy issues, including ADA and 508 compliance. The creation of accessible media and information resources, including Web pages and library resources are a particular focus of the event.
This conference is intended for individuals who need to design or provide accessible Web, media, information resources and technology in the academic and business environment. In the past, audiences have included Web designers, assistive technologists, ADA coordinators, human resource personnel, persons with disabilities, disability specialists, faculty, media specialists and programmers interested in accessibility.
PDF Association Vice-chairman and President of NetCentric, Duff Johnson, will be speaking at the conference about “Introducing PDF/UA, the International Standard for Accessible PDF” on Wednesday, November 14, 2012.
Karen McCall, from Karlen Communications, will run a full day workshop on “Working with Accessible PDF Documents” on November 13, 2012.
