Dennis Carney has spent nearly 30 years in the printing industry, working in the printing groups of the companies that originated the Advanced Function Presentation (AFP) architecture: IBM, InfoPrint Solutions Company, and Ricoh. Mr. Carney has actively participated across all areas of the AFP Consortium since its formal inception in 2009. His work on industry standards within the Consortium, the CIP4 Organization, and the Printer Working Group includes ownership of all eight AFP architectures and co- and primary authorship of numerous printing standards. In addition, Mr. Carney was awarded the CIP4 Fellow award in 2023 for his contributions to the JDF, XJDF, and PrintTalk standards, as well as to a number of CIP4 ICS documents. He is an IBM- and Ricoh-recognized Master Inventor with 24 U.S. patents. He has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Santa Clara University, and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Illinois.
