As the European Accessibility Act (EAA) is in force as of June 2025, compliance is increasingly demanding not only technical accessibility but also clarity of content.

This presentation explores how ISO 14289 (PDF/UA), the standard for universally accessible PDF documents, complements ISO 24495, the emerging international standard for Plain Language. Together, these standards enhance not only the technical accessibility of content but also its cognitive accessibility, ensuring that information is perceivable, operable, and understandable by all users—including those with disabilities, cognitive limitations, and low literacy.
