Viele Universitäten, wie im konkreten Beispiel die TU Berlin hier, fordern die Abgabe von Bachelor-, Master-Arbeiten und Dissertationen erfreulicherweise als PDF/A. Bei der TU Berlin ist die konkrete Vorgabe PDF/A-1b, das mit sogenannten PDF/A-Validatoren von der Universität geprüft wird. Insbesondere in den Ingenieurs-Wissenschaften erstellen viele Studenten und Doktoranden Ihre Arbeit mit LaTeX und müssen diese dann zur Abgabe in PDF/A konvertieren. Für solch eine Konvertierung „führen viele Wege nach Rom“ und dieser kleine Erfahrungsbericht möchte einige Möglichkeiten aufzeigen.
