We’re excited to announce a new release of the Adobe PDF Library that brings enhanced digital signing capabilities, improved security, and updated libraries to ensure developers can continue to build high-performance PDF solutions.
New: Timestamp Digital Signatures
The highlight of this release is a new feature: Timestamp / RFC3161 Digital Signatures, which introduces support for digitally signing PDF documents using timestamp signatures, providing developers with a secure way to apply verifiable, time-based authentication to documents.
Timestamp signatures help ensure the long-term validity of a document’s signature, even after the signing certificate expires, making them especially valuable for workflows requiring strong compliance and audit trails. Please note: Timestamp signatures are not available on Linux 32-bit and AIX 64-bit platforms.
Security and Library Updates
In addition to new signing capabilities, this release includes several critical updates to underlying libraries to strengthen security and improve performance:
- ICU updated to version 77.1 – Mitigates known vulnerabilities and enhances international text handling.
- libexpat updated to 2.7.3 – Addresses known vulnerabilities for safer XML parsing.
- fmt library updated to 11.2.0 – Provides improved formatting performance and reliability.
- libtiff updated to 4.7.1 – Improves image processing and mitigates security risks.
- OpenSSL updated to 3.5.2 – Delivers the latest in encryption and data protection capabilities.
These updates were added to make sure the Adobe PDF Library remains a secure foundation for developing enterprise-grade PDF solutions.
