ISO 32000-2:2020, the latest edition of the PDF specification first published in 1993, is now available from ISO.org.

ISO 14289-2 (PDF/UA-2) remains under development, with publication expected in 2022. A number of other extensions and other improvements, especially in the areas of cryptography, reuse and forms, are in the pipeline.

About ISO 32000-2:2020 (PDF 2.0)

PDF 2.0 was first published in July, 2017 the first PDF specification developed entirely within the ISO working-group structure. ISO 32000-2:2020 is the second edition of that document; a so-called "dated revision".

The 2020 edition of PDF 2.0 includes a number of critical updates to normative references as well as other corrections and clarifications. The new document replaces the 2017 edition, and continues the refinement of the PDF format originally published by Adobe Systems in 1993.

Subject-matter experts who are either members of the PDF Association (an ISO Category A Liaison organization) or whose country is a member of ISO's TC 171 SC 2 can join the other experts in Working Group 8 in accessing the committee's draft documents and submitting comments towards the next edition.

The PDF Association maintains an archive of documents, many originally published by Adobe Systems, that are used by ISO 32000-2:2020 as normative references (i.e., necessary to implementation). Many of these documents are freely downloadable. A current list of PDF-related work in ISO committees is maintained here.
