pdf.net MCP

Produced by pdf.net

The pdf.net MCP is a remote Model Context Protocol server that gives an AI assistant direct access to a user's pdf.net document library. Instead of downloading a file, processing it in a separate application, and uploading the result, the assistant operates in one place and returns the finished document.

It is available as an official connector in Claude and in ChatGPT, and works with any MCP client, including command-line tools.

What an assistant can do

  • Generate PDFs: produce a formatted document from a description, or from data held in other files.
  • Read and extract pages: answer questions about a document's contents and return specific values such as totals, dates, or line items.
  • Edit and convert: change document content and move between PDF and other formats.
  • Assemble: merge, split, extract, and reorder pages across one or several documents.
  • Optimize: compress files to meet size limits.
  • Add Page Numbers: apply page and Bates numbering across a document set.

Working across a document set

  • File management: create folders, and move, copy, and rename stored documents.
  • Search: locate content across a stored document set rather than a single file.
  • Batch operations: apply one instruction across many documents, such as stamping an entire folder with a Bates prefix or updating a recurring field in a set of invoices.
  • Handoff to the editor: open any resulting document in the pdf.net browser editor to finish the work by hand.
