At a glance

  • Client: Davy
  • Sector: Financial services / wealth management, Ireland
  • Platform: ComplyLoft Accessibility and Auditor
  • Scope: Public-facing brochureware and customer-facing documents
  • Engagement: Ongoing. Roughly 3–4 weeks of initial engine fine-tuning, followed by continuous remediation and auditing as new documents are created

Results

  • ~98% less hands-on time per document versus manual accessibility remediation
  • ~95% less hands-on time for auditing against internal and external regulatory standards
  • Output brought to a PDF/UA and WCAG 2.2 AA conforming standard following review and design collaboration
  • Automated remediation takes an average of 6–9 minutes per document, and automated auditing 3–4 minutes
  • 265 documents / 1,295 pages remediated to date, and counting, and 120 document audits completed against internal and external regulatory standards

The challenge

As Ireland’s leading provider of wealth management and investment banking services, Davy maintains a substantial library of public-facing brochureware, the kind of design-heavy, brand-led PDF documents that are among the hardest to make accessible. With accessibility obligations under the European Accessibility Act (in effect from 28 June 2025) applying to consumer-facing financial services, Davy needed to bring this library to a PDF/UA and WCAG conforming standard to ensure the documents are fully accessible for their clients and potential clients.

Design-heavy documents like these are exactly where manual remediation struggles to scale: each document carries bespoke layouts, complex reading orders, and brand design decisions that a specialist would otherwise have to work through by hand, page by page. Doing that across hundreds of documents is slow, costly, and difficult to keep consistent, all while the published library keeps growing.

The approach

Sample-set fine-tuning. ComplyLoft began with a representative sample of Davy’s documents and spent three to four weeks fine-tuning the engine against their specific structures and templates. The Accessibility platform does the heavy lifting on complex documents: it auto-tags content, repairs structure and reading order, and prompts for missing alt text. This tuning phase calibrated it to the particular characteristics of Davy’s brochureware.

Collaboration with Davy’s design partner. Accessibility on design-led documents is not only a backend structure problem; some issues are design decisions that have to be resolved at source. ComplyLoft worked directly with Davy’s partner design team to address residual design-stage issues and to confirm their preferences for reading order, so the remediated documents met the standard while respecting Davy’s brand and design intent.

Expert review and sign-off. ComplyLoft’s accessibility team reviewed output throughout. As with every ComplyLoft engagement, a qualified human reviews, adjusts where needed, and signs off; the platform accelerates that work rather than replacing it.

Ongoing production. With the engine tuned and the design questions resolved, remediation became a continuous part of Davy’s publishing process. As new brochureware and customer-facing documents are created, they move through the same pipeline: 265 documents totalling 1,295 pages to date. Each document is remediated in an average of six to nine minutes, depending on its size, complexity, and the number of images involved.

The outcome

To date, 265 documents totalling 1,295 pages of public brochureware have been remediated and brought to a PDF/UA and WCAG 2.2 AA conforming standard following review and sign-off. The engagement is ongoing rather than a one-off project.

This is the more significant outcome for Davy: a tuned, repeatable process now sits inside their publishing workflow. As new brochureware and customer-facing documents are created, they are remediated through the same pipeline, keeping the published library conforming as it grows, without returning to slow, manual, per-document remediation each time.

Time saved

Remediation that took a specialist hours per document is now measured in minutes, and the reduction holds across very different documents:

Representative document Estimated manual remediation ComplyLoft Time saved
Doc A (5 pages) ~5.5 hours ~6 minutes ~98%
Doc B (18 pages) ~17 hours ~5 minutes ~99%

In short: ComplyLoft reduces per-document remediation from hours of specialist work to minutes, a reduction of roughly 98% in hands-on time (between about 5.5 and 17 hours saved per document depending on size and complexity).

The manual figures are estimated specialist effort based on each document’s structure (element count, tables, images, and reading-order complexity), not stopwatch measurements. The ComplyLoft figures are actual platform processing times.

“At Davy, we make every effort to ensure compliance with regulations across all areas, and have a client-first approach to everything we do, including our communications and documentation. Therefore, it was important to us that we ensure our documentation is accessible. Working with the team at ComplyLoft, the task of remediating our suite of brochureware was very straightforward and much more efficient than manual intervention.”

Auditing documents against internal and external standards

The engagement extends beyond remediation. Davy also uses the ComplyLoft Auditor to assess documents against both internal and external standards, from tone of voice, grammar, and formatting through to regulatory requirements, surfacing potential gaps for review before documents are finalised, reducing manual effort by a further 95% or more.

Much of this collateral is created by operational and marketing teams rather than by regulatory specialists. Those teams are not expected to carry every relevant standard and regulation in their heads, yet the rules they need to work within are detailed and can be difficult for non-specialists to interpret.

This is where the Auditor supports them. When a team produces a piece of collateral, they can run it against the relevant standards and get quick, structured answers and insights: what a requirement means, where the document may fall short, and what to look at before it goes out. A slow, expertise-heavy interpretation task becomes a check that operational teams can run themselves, with specialist review still applied where it matters.

The Auditor works from configurable scorecards: any standard that can be expressed as a set of criteria can be used as the basis for assessment. Rather than a specialist reading each document end to end and cross-referencing it by hand, the Auditor flags potential gaps and returns a detailed response against each scorecard question, giving a quick, concise, structured output the team can act on. Issues are flagged for review, not presented as confirmed findings; a qualified person decides what applies and signs off.

To date, 120 document audits have been completed. The platform is highly customisable and fast: audits complete in an average of three to four minutes, depending on document size, the number of scorecard questions, and the complexity of the standards or regulations being assessed against.

Why ComplyLoft
