Spring is in the air, and along with it comes the latest iText Suite quarterly release.
This time it’s a little different though. For our first release as part of the Apryse family, we’re proud to announce the release of iText Core version 8 – aka iText 8.
So, what’s new?
Our aim for this release was to create a great platform for future development, and to maintain iText's reputation as the most performant and most developer friendly Java and .NET library for PDF creation (including PDF/A and PDF/UA), digitally signing PDFs, and much more besides!
iText 8 builds upon the modularized approach of iText 7 and introduces a wealth of new features to our open-source PDF library – such as FIPS-140-2 support as standard, and support for the latest digital signature standards and the cryptographic related extensions to PDF 2.0.
In addition, we’ve taken the opportunity to refine key areas of our API. Digitally signing documents is now even easier and more logical, while developers can now use the same intuitive layout-based approach for form fields as for other layout elements - making creation and maintenance of forms much simpler.
On top of all that, there’s upgraded text extraction in certain cases, improved documentation for the layout module, and API refinements across the board.
