axaio software’s tool MadeToTag is an Adobe InDesign plug-in for preparing and exporting InDesign files as tagged, accessible PDF/UA documents. It enhances InDesign by offering important additional features that simplify the preparation and creation, correct errors and speed up the process towards the export of an accessible PDF document. In other words, you will get a PDF that meets the criteria of the PDF/UA standard for Universal Accessibility.
New in version 1.9.093: Caption, Blockquote & Index tags
In a correctly tagged PDF, special text elements, such as Caption, Blockquote and Index, must be specifically marked as such. The PDF/UA standard (PDF for Universal Access) also provides the assignment of these specific tags in order to map the semantic structure in the PDF as precisely as possible. However, only basic tags (header or simple text) are used in InDesign. Special elements, such as Caption, Blockquote and Index, did not have their own tag equivalent in InDesign.
The new MadeToTag version 1.9.093 meets this requirement. From now on, the following additional export tags can be assigned with MadeToTag and transferred to the PDF during export:
- Caption (caption or short text describing figures, tables or lists)
- Blockquote (separates a block of text from the rest of the text and highlights it as a quotation)
- Index
With the extension of the export tags in MadeToTag, the aspect of the accessible access to a PDF content is addressed even more strongly.
