PDFBolt is a cloud REST API for generating PDFs from HTML, web pages, and dynamic templates. It uses headless Chromium to render modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It is built for developers, software teams, and businesses that need reliable PDF generation across product, reporting, and document workflows.
The API supports three conversion modes. The Direct endpoint returns the PDF in the response. The Sync endpoint returns a temporary download URL. The Async endpoint processes conversions in the background and delivers the result through a signed webhook callback. Generated PDFs can also be uploaded directly to a user-provided S3-compatible bucket.
Beyond the API, PDFBolt provides a dashboard with a Playground for testing requests, API key management, conversion logs, reusable Handlebars templates, template versioning, and team access. Templates can be created manually, generated with AI from prompts and reference files, or started from a ready-to-use template gallery.
For print production workflows, PDFBolt supports PDF/X-1a and PDF/X-4 output, CMYK conversion, and ICC color profiles.

Privacy and data control

- Generated PDFs stored by PDFBolt expire after 24 hours.
- HTML and template data are redacted from stored request logs by default.
- Additional request parameters can be redacted in the dashboard.
