axes4 Day 2026: Trends, Highlights & a Look Behind the Scenes

For the fourth consecutive year, axes4 gathered the document accessibility community in Berlin; and the event keeps getting bigger. 18 speakers filled a full-day program at the Umweltforum, covering everything from legal enforcement under the European Accessibility Act to AI-powered PDF/UA workflows.

Key highlights included an exclusive preview of PAC 2027, now running on Mac with a fully redesigned accessible interface, and a compelling demonstration of how accessible documents and AI reinforce each other through Document Intelligence and RAG systems.

Recurring themes underscored the industry's direction: scaling accessibility for mass documents, template-based automation, and the growing urgency of EAA compliance. New this year were live Ask-the-Expert sessions running alongside the main stage.
