About Calico France
JLB Informatique, the French ECM publisher with more than 40 years of experience serving administrations, enterprises, and the non-profit sector, is now operating under the name Calico France. The rebrand reflects the company’s integration into Calico IIM, a European group of document management companies founded in January 2025 and built around a shared proprietary AI platform, LM-Kit.
Alongside the name change, Calico France is announcing the acquisition of GedZilla, a cloud-native SaaS document management platform developed and hosted in France. With this addition, Calico France can now address the full ECM spectrum, from its long-established on-premise solutions to a modern cloud-native SaaS platform, for customers ranging from local authorities and legal professionals to enterprises and public administrations.
In parallel, the Calico IIM group is announcing its entry into the United Kingdom through the acquisition of FileStream, an established UK ECM provider with more than 20 years of presence in higher education, healthcare, maritime, and financial services. FileStream, ISO 27001 certified, and trusted by organisations such as the University of Hull and Cardiff & Vale College, keeps its name, team, and customer relationships, and gains the engineering and commercial reach of the group.
A shared AI platform: LM-Kit
Both GedZilla and FileStream will progressively benefit from LM-Kit, Calico IIM’s proprietary AI platform, developed in-house with no dependency on third-party providers. LM-Kit runs locally on the customer’s infrastructure: data never leaves the customer’s environment, costs are fixed, and sovereignty is preserved end to end.
Roadmap features for both platforms include automatic document classification and understanding, intelligent data extraction, and natural-language search across archives, capabilities that apply directly to the PDF-heavy document estates typical of the public sector, legal, healthcare, and education customers the group serves.
A consolidation strategy that continues
“Sovereignty, for us, isn’t only about AI, it runs through every layer of what we deliver: software developed in Europe, infrastructure hosted in Europe, and AI that runs on our customers’ own machines. With GedZilla now in the Calico France portfolio and FileStream joining the group in the UK, we’re building a European ECM player that can stand on its own technological ground, end to end. That’s the ambition: a group that grows across borders without ever outsourcing the foundations.” Elodie Tellier, CEO, Calico France
Calico IIM is actively seeking further acquisitions in France, the United Kingdom, and across Europe, targeting ECM publishers with strong recurring revenue, loyal customer bases, and genuine sector expertise.
