Datalogics Adds Brotli Compression and Accessible Web2PDF Output to Adobe PDF Library

The latest release of Datalogics’ Adobe PDF Library (APDFL) adds two new capabilities: support for Brotli compression when saving PDF files, and tagged PDF output from Web2PDF conversions.

Brotli compression joins APDFL’s save options. APDFL now supports writing Brotli-compressed streams when saving files. For supported stream data, Brotli can reduce PDF file size compared to traditional filters like Flate, which can lower storage costs and improve transfer times for applications handling large volumes of PDFs. This capability is based on a PDF Association extension to PDF 2.0 and is not part of the ISO 32000-2:2020 standard. PDF processors that don’t support this extension may be unable to read Brotli-compressed streams, so developers should confirm their downstream consumers support it before enabling Brotli output by default. Tagged PDF Support in Web2PDF. Added tagged PDF support to Web2PDF for improved accessibility. Tagged PDFs include structure information that screen readers and other assistive technologies use to read a document in the correct order. This makes the PDFs Web2PDF generates accessible to users with disabilities and helps meet accessibility requirements.
