After releasing iText Suite 9.0 at the end of last year, Apryse brings you a special gift on Valentine's Day. Exactly 25 years after the very first public release of the iText PDF library, iText Suite 9.1 has a bunch of new features and improvements you are going to love! ❤️

Extended SVG Support

We’ve massively extended our in-house SVG implementation in the iText Core library, with significant improvements to text positioning, font handling, adding support for relative size attributes, and much more.

Improved Table Performance

You can also expect a significant performance increase when generating large tables, especially when adding structural tagging information to tables. This is particularly important for generating documents conforming to PDF/A and PDF/UA standards.

Expanded GraalVM Native Image Support

We've expanded our built-in support for GraalVM Native Image compilation to include the pdfHTML add-on. This can significantly enhance the flexibility and performance of PDF generation from HTML templates in environments where resources are limited or speed is of the essence, such as in cloud and container deployments. Templating with pdfHTML also takes great advantage of the increased table performance, making such tasks even faster.

CSS Improvements

CSS support is also expanded and improved, and the SVG additions also benefit pdfHTML templating. It doesn't stop there though, as users of our pdfCalligraph add-on can expect significantly improved usage of the typography module for SVG content in multiple languages and writing systems.

Digital Signing and Validation

For our class-leading digital signature and validation capabilities, the MAC integrity protection support added in our previous release is now supported for two-step signing. We also have brand-new examples for signing with the Cloud Signing Consortium (CSC) API.

PDF/UA

As for PDF/UA, our implementation of this brand-new standard has been improved, specifically, when using the Annot tag for content elements in PDF 2.0 documents. You can expect further developments around PDF/UA-2 in our next quarterly release.

There's much more to talk about, so for more information read the release announcement. Alternatively, check out the release notes to see in more detail what's new.
