JPedal adds PDF to PDF/A-3 Conversion Capabilities

You may have noticed that the JPedal PDF library has been expanding its feature set recently. The September release adds another significant one: the ability to convert existing PDF files to PDF/A-3b.

JPedal checks the source file against PDF/A-3b requirements and, where it falls short, rewrites it to meet them. The output uses a bundled sRGB output intent, so there’s no separate ICC profile to source or configure.

If a file can’t be brought into line, JPedal returns a report explaining why and writes no output, so you don’t end up with a file that claims a conformance level it doesn’t meet.

Conversion runs in pure Java inside your own JVM on Java 17 and above, and it’s included in every JPedal license with no extra module to pay for.

You can use a tool like veraPDF to validate whether the document meets the PDF/A standard.
