Creating accessible PDF forms often requires multiple tools and manual post-processing. While many documents are authored in Microsoft Word, interactive form fields are typically added later in a separate PDF editor, making the workflow more complex and increasing the risk of accessibility issues.

With the new axesWord 25.9 beta, this process becomes significantly simpler. Users can now create accessible PDF forms directly in Microsoft Word by inserting form fields into the document. During PDF export, these fields are automatically converted into accessible PDF form fields, allowing the entire authoring process to remain within the familiar Word environment.

The new feature supports a range of commonly used form field types, including text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, drop-down lists, list boxes, and digital signatures. Form field properties such as tooltips, appearance, and document-wide defaults can also be configured directly in Word.

The beta version is available now for testing. We welcome feedback from the PDF accessibility community to help refine the feature before its official release.
