The sun shines in Concord

The PDF Association staff delivers a vendor-neutral platform in service of PDF’s stakeholders.

Members of the PDF Association’s TWG and LWGs are gathered today in Concord, Massachusetts, birthplace of the American Revolution, for PDF Week Boston 2025.
PDF Week events offer participants the opportunity to:
- Engage directly with industry peers, international representatives and institutional end-users
- Participate in in-depth Technical and Liaison Working Group meetings
- Observe and contribute to ISO standardization processes
- Network through group events and collaborative sessions
Joined by delegates to TC 1 SC 1 and SC 2, the Concord meetings, which run from April 28 - May 2, advance PDF industry priorities and ISO standardization efforts in document technology.
The event is designed to foster meaningful connections between ongoing technical activities within the PDF Association and broader ISO standardization efforts.
We started on Monday with a walk from the hotel to the famous bridge where it all started on April 19, 1775, 250 years ago this month (Concord is still recovering from the festivities).
The agenda for this week is packed with discussions on a diverse range of topics, from accessibility to 3D PDF. In addition to the substance of the meetings PDF Week provides attendees with a vital means of establishing and maintaining the relationships that support the consensus-building process. The working groups meeting this week include:
- PDF Forms Technical Working Group (TWG)
- Deriving HTML from PDF TWG
- RichMedia TWG
- PDF Accessibility Liaison Working Group (LWG)
- 3D PDF TWG & User LWG (and ISO TC 171 SC 2 WG 7)
- PDF Reuse TWG
- PDF/UA TWG (and ISO TC 171 SC 2 WG 9)
- PDF/A TWG (ISO TC 171 SC 2 WG 5)
- PDF TWG ((and ISO TC 171 SC 2 WG 8)
- Cryptography & Provenance TWG (and ISO TC 171 SC 2 WG 13)
- PDF Imaging Model TWG in joint session with the PDF/R TWG
- PDF Forensics LWG
- ISO TC 171 SC 2 WG 10 (File Formats)
- ISO TC 171 SC 1
While PDF Week is primarily an in-person event, provisions are made for remote participation. PDF Association members and ISO delegates unable to attend in person may join the meetings virtually through audio and screen-sharing options. This hybrid approach ensures broader accessibility and inclusivity for participants worldwide.
