For the past several years, the PDF Reuse TWG has focused on the development of the Well-Tagged PDF (WTPDF) specification. The goal of this specification is to ensure high-quality documents that are suitable for content reuse, extraction, reflow and more.
The WTPDF specification is closely aligned with the new PDF/UA-2 (ISO 14289-2) standard, which is nearing publication. A new version of WTPDF, which uses PDF/UA as its base, was recently shared within the PDF Reuse TWG and is nearing finalization.
The PDF Reuse TWG is planning to meet in person during PDF Week 2023 in Paris. On Wednesday, May 3 at 1400 CET we will be focused on driving this new “WTPDF based on UA” specification to completion. We will review and consider comments adopted in 14289-2 by the PDF/UA TWG and ISO/ TC 171/SC 2 WG9 committees to understand how they might impact WTPDF.
Our goal will be to finalize the text for the first version of the WTPDF specification and prepare the document for the PDF Association’s review and publication process. We will also use this meeting time to discuss potential tracks for future work that we determine are required to support adoption of WTPDF.
Of course, if you are not able to join us in Paris, there will be availability to attend remotely!
