PDF Days Tuesday Keynote: Alexander Pfingstl

The PDF Association staff delivers a vendor-neutral platform in service of PDF’s stakeholders.

The PDF Association is delighted to announce that PDF Days Europe 2025 keynote speaker for September 16 will be Alexander Pfingstl, Digital Accessibility Specialist at Germany’s Federal Monitoring Center for Accessibility of Information Technology (BFIT-Bund).
With the European Accessibility Act (EAA) now in force across the EU, accessible PDFs are shifting from a “nice to have” to a legal requirement in many areas. But what exactly does that mean for document creators, vendors, and institutions? And how accessible are the PDFs we use today?
Drawing on his experience monitoring compliance in the public sector, Alexander will provide attendees with a deep dive into the intersection of legislation, standards, and real-world practice. His keynote will explore the specific requirements for PDF accessibility in Germany and the EU, and how organizations can test and verify compliance, going beyond what automated tools can catch.
From typical pitfalls in supposedly accessible documents to insights from large-scale audits, Alexander’s keynote in September will shine a light on what it takes to create documents that truly work for everyone. Expect a candid and practical look at the challenges, the tools, and the opportunities in building an inclusive digital future through better document accessibility.
Join us in Berlin on Tuesday, September 16, for Alexander Pfingstl’s keynote at PDF Days Europe 2025!
