RIP Dr. Geschke

The PDF community was saddened to learn of the passing of one of the visionaries who helped invent PostScript and PDF technology.

Dr. Geschke co-founded Adobe and left an indelible mark on the history of information technology (German-speakers may be interested in the corresponding article in Spiegel).

In a statement, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen said:

"As much as his inventions changed the world, it is his focus on people, purpose and culture that has profoundly impacted each of us at Adobe. As he always said, Chuck wanted to create a company where he would want to work."

Dr. Warnock, who co-founded Adobe with Dr. Geschke, shared the following:

“I could never have imagined having a better, more likable, or more capable business partner. Not having Chuck in our lives will leave a huge hole and those who knew him will all agree.”

The PDF technology industry Chuck Geschke helped to create is confident that the highest and best use of his innovations lies before, and not behind us.
