Making ISO standards for PDF available at no cost

The PDF Association staff delivers a vendor-neutral platform in service of PDF’s stakeholders.

As the Committee Manager for ISO TC 171 SC 2, the ISO workspace for PDF standards development, the PDF Association is able to work with ISO and ANSI to make selected ISO standards for PDF technology available at no cost. Learn more about the PDF Association's sponsored standards program.
In particular, we owe thanks to our sponsors, without whom this would not be possible.
ISO 32000 (the core PDF specification)
Since 2023, Adobe, Apryse and Foxit have sponsored no-cost availability of ISO 32000, the core PDF specification. In addition to the "big document" (ISO 32000 weighs in at over 1,000 pages), their sponsorship also covers four ISO Extensions to PDF 2.0.

ISO 14289 (the ISO standard for accessible PDF)
In 20204, other PDF Association members stepped up to sponsor ISO 14289 (PDF/UA), the ISO standard for accessible PDF. The sponsorship encompasses PDF/UA-1 (2014), PDF/UA-2 (2024) and ISO TS 32005. In 2025 we're welcoming our member GrackleDocs as a new sponsor of ISO 14289! Grackle joins Allyant, Axes4 and TargetStream Technologies to make ISO's standards for accessibility in PDF technology available to everyone.
