Interoperable document-based signatures
Experiences from designing and implementing truly interoperable electronic signature workflows

Description
This presentation is primarily aimed at developers who are designing and implementing digital document workflows requiring trusted signature models. Electronic signatures are an essential part of digital transformation, and many vendors offer e-sign features. Vendor-specific implementations don’t usually allow interoperability, and trust is associated with the specific implementation where signature validation takes place. In 2021, Foxit introduced an initiative to make e-signatures interoperable. A year later, we’d like to share our experiences with standardising and implementing the approach. We will show how to embed workflow information in an interoperable manner, how to generate and embed a trusted audit trail while allowing vendors to make specific business decisions.
