PDF Generator API is a document generation platform for software teams that need to produce standards-based PDFs from their own data at scale. You design a template once, in a visual drag-and-drop editor, by describing it to an AI builder, or from an AI agent over MCP. Your application then fills it with JSON through a REST API. AI template builder
Describe the document you need in plain language, such as an invoice, a delivery note or a statement, and the builder assembles a working, data-driven template right in the editor. You can also upload an existing PDF or Word file and have it rebuilt as an editable template. Scanned documents are supported too: their text is recognised and turned into real, editable components. Every result stays fully editable in the visual editor.
MCP server for AI agents
The PDF Generator API MCP server gives Claude, Cursor, Cline, n8n and other MCP-compatible clients the whole API as 49 tools. You can use it as a hosted endpoint or run it locally. An agent can design a template, check it against the template schema, save it to your workspace and then generate PDFs, merge files or create e-invoices, all without writing HTTP requests.

Powerful expression language
You can write mathematical and logical expressions to manipulate and customize the values shown in components. Use ternary, arithmetic, bitwise and comparison operators, and functions to sum, join and iterate arrays.
A wide range of smart components
Use components such as Text, Table, Chart, Barcode and QR code, and define how number and date values are formatted. You can group, filter and sort lists and tables without changing the data set in your application. Conditional formatting, page breaks, repeating headers and footers, and custom HTML/CSS are built in. Multilingual fonts, Japanese included, fall back to another font when a glyph is missing.
Conversion and PDF services
Convert HTML to PDF, fill existing PDF forms, and merge, split, watermark, encrypt or compress documents through the same API. Web forms can generate a PDF on submission.
Deployment and security
Available as a cloud service, as dedicated instances in Virginia, London, Frankfurt or Sydney, or on-premises. ISO 27001:2022 certified, GDPR and HIPAA compliant.
