Brandenburger Tor

A symbol of unity.

While the only remaining city gate of Berlin formerly used to represent the separation of the city between East and West Berlin, since the Berlin Wall came down in 1989 the Brandenburger Tor has now come to symbolize German unity. In addition, this gate made of sandstone is one of the finest examples of German classicism.

Bricks, brushes and Berlin tales.

The Berlin East Side Gallery is the longest remaining section of the Berlin Wall, now an open-air gallery featuring over 100 murals painted after the Wall fell in 1989. It stands as a vibrant symbol of freedom and unity. Other preserved pieces of the Wall can be found at Bernauer Straße, Potsdamer Platz (S1), the Topography of Terror, Mauerpark, and near Checkpoint Charlie, offering further insight into Berlin’s divided history.
