The PDF Association’s annual All-Member Meeting on September 10, 2026 elected a new Board of Directors for the 2026-2028 term.
As in the previous term, the now nine-member Board is chaired by Apryse VP Engineering Raf Hens with callas software CEO Dietrich von Seggern continuing as Vice Chair. The new Board adds Markus Erle, CEO of axes4.
“The Board of Directors is looking forward to exciting new developments in PDF technology, and enhanced access to PDF specifications,” said chair Raf Hens. "The PDF Association's recent addition of Brotli compression to PDF demonstrates that PDF continues to move forward." said Hens. “The Board is committed to the organization’s mission of providing a vendor-neutral space for stakeholders and developers to enhance PDF through new guidance, new and updated ISO standards and new types of resources for both members and the larger PDF technology ecosystem,” he said.

First established as the PDF/A Competence Center in 2006 the PDF Association today is an international specifications and standards development organization promoting awareness and adoption of open standards in digital document applications using PDF technology. The association facilitates education, networking and the sharing of expertise and experience with interested parties worldwide. The current membership includes over 150 organizations and numerous individual subject-matter experts from more than 35 countries. PDF Association, Inc, a US-based subsidiary, administers the standards development program and US Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for ISO TC 171 SC 2.
The Board of Directors includes industry leaders from Adobe, Apryse, axes4, Calico France, callas software, Datalogics, Dual Lab, Foxit and Nitro. The Chief Executive Officer is Duff Johnson, ISO Project Leader of ISO 14289. The CTO is Peter Wyatt, ISO Project Leader of ISO 32000.
