October 2023: PDF Week & the Symposium on Advancing PDF’s Imaging Model
PDF Week in San Francisco this October is hosting a free industry Symposium on Advancing the PDF Imaging Model! There’s still time to register! We are looking forward to seeing our members and other PDF technology stakeholders at PDF Week in San Francisco in October!
PDF Week is how PDF's technical community gets together to discuss and advance the PDF file format in all its various manifestations, including respective meetings of ISO TC 171 SC 2, the ISO community that manages ISO standardization of PDF and most PDF subset standards.
This meeting is special
PDF hasn't changed in fundamental ways since PDF 1.5 was published 20 years ago. Today, the PDF industry is seeing requests for new raster image formats (e.g., JPEG XL), modernized storage facilities, support for HDR rendering, NChannel transparency blending, updated font capabilities, animation, advanced 3D, and more.
Accordingly, on Tuesday, October 17, PDF Week will become the venue for the Symposium on Advancing the PDF Imaging Model, an open industry event designed to initiate a broad discussion on these (and other) proposals for changes and enhancements to PDF's imaging model.
The chairs of the Imaging Model Technical Working Group will open the day by presenting (some of) the issues. The rest of the day will be devoted to breakouts on specific topics.
Register now!
Registration for both PDF Week and the Symposium will remain open until the week before the event (although we cannot promise a printed name-tag :-). All PDF developers, including non-members, are welcome to attend the Symposium in person. Remote attendance is available to PDF Association members.
